There are still many conflicting theories about using aloe vera on animals, and some even believe that it is a toxic remedy for cats . The reality is that many holistic veterinarians consider using aloe vera as a first-line treatment against many conditions.

In order to gain all the benefits of aloe vera you should extract the flesh within the stems. This has various properties which can treat canine dermatitis:

  • Aloe vera juice has antibacterial effects, therefore it will prevent a topical infection if the dermatitis is accompanied by injuries from excessive scratching.
  • Aloe vera is able to regenerate the skin, therefore it will allow wounds to properly heal and help the skin renew itself.
  • It is a highly hydrating and moisturizing substance, therefore it quickly soothes itching and scratching associated with dermatitis.
  • Aloe vera contains active ingredients that act by decreasing inflammation of the skin, which is also very important in reducing symptoms.

Moreover, aloe vera is also highly beneficial to treat a dog's paw pads.
