If I put Tea Tree oil in my dogs shampoo, for skin irritation on his tail. What if he licks it after the bath??

Hi Carien,

If you use a few drops of essential oil in a shampoo and then rinse it out, there should be no reason this will cause your dog any arm. Generally, it would take larger quantities or an allergy to cause a problem.

Hi Debbie,

Tea tree oil is an antiseptic so it can be used to clean areas on the dog's skin. However, be careful if the wound is open or particularly agitated. The strength of tea tree essential oil can cause irritation in these cases.
