  2. Peritonitis

Peritonitis in dogs is an inflammation of the cavity where the abdominal organs are located. Peritonitis in dogs can occur when substances such as enzymes, food, feces, bile, etc., are dumped in it, due to disorders such as:

  • Gastric torsion.

  • Perforated ulcers.
  • Rupture of the bladder

Peritonitis can appear either localized or generalized and constitutes a veterinary emergency. As we’ve already mentioned, the causes of yellow vomiting in dogs can vary from intolerance to indigestion to a serious disease. Therefore, treatment will depend predominantly on the diagnosis. So, what do I do if my dog vomits yellow?

In mild cases of dog vomiting yellow without any additional symptoms, it can often be treated with home remedies.

When it comes to more serious cases, dog vomiting yellow treatment may include:

  • Fluid therapy.
  • Antibiotics.
  • Analgesia (painkillers).
  • Surgery.

These will, of course, depend on the diagnosis, which can be identified through tests, x-rays or ultrasounds.

Dog vomiting: home remedy

When it comes to adult dogs or previously healthy dogs suffering from a mild case of vomiting, we can consider treating this at home. Home remedies for dogs vomiting yellow include:

  • Not feeding your dog solid foods for 12 hours, at most. This will allow your dog’s digestive system to rest for a few hours.
  • Offer your dog ice cubes every 3 or 4 hours to avoid dehydration.
  • If your dog’s vomiting remits, offer it soft food in small amounts. Commercial foods for humans are not recommended.
  • You can also offer your dog fluids such as chicken or vegetable broth in water.
