Adopting small white dog breeds
White-haired dog breeds are by far some of the most elegant and amazing dog breeds. In addition, little dogs are often the most wonderfully cute and affectionate animals. For both aesthetic and practicality, it is understandable you may be thinking of adopting a small white dog.
It’s important to remember that white coats on dogs require different care than coats of other colors. This is especially relevant when these coats are a little longer. If you already have one or are looking to adopt a white fluffy dog breed, here are some of our tips you can take into consideration when caring for their coat:
- Don’t wash these dogs too much. Small white fluffy dog breeds require a wash only once or twice a month. If your white dog gets dirty regularly, opt for brushing, dry shampoo or wipes for dogs.
- Clean the parts that get dirty more easily with a cloth or a brush and avoid over-bathing your dog. Dogs have natural oils present in their skin which promote hair growth, over bathing a dog can result in dry skin and irritation.
- Use shampoos and conditioners specific for dogs with white hair. These can be found at your local pet store.
