It feels as if there is a time when shorthair cat breeds were the only domestic cats you can find. However, with breeding developments, there are many longhair cats which are more commonly kept as pets. Breeds of short hair cats are found all over the world, from the UK to Australia. There are also different types of short hair cats. Some, like the American Shorthair or the British Shorthair, have a particular morphology which makes them immediately recognizable. Then you have mixed breed cats known simply as the Domestic Shorthair.
